“Tiny Art Show”
Often, we think about public art as a mural on a building or perhaps a sculpture in a park. While these works elevate and adorn public spaces, public art itself invites a multitude of forms.
This summer, Toolbox Gallery sought to redefine public art to include community art, launching programming and an exhibition by and for the community in which it is presented. Original sketches, collages, and paintings emerging from the local and surrounding community comprise Toolbox’s Community Tiny Art Show, bringing forth the creativity housed in every single one of us.
Owing to the enthusiastic participation of Milwaukie’s businesses, organizations, children, teens, parents, professionals and more, our Community Tiny Art Show represents diverse ages, skills, interests, and themes.
The richness and depth of this show comes from the community’s engagement in our show’s design and creation from the very start, when we handed out Tiny Art kits at Milwaukie Fest. The Community Tiny Art Show aims to connect Toolbox with every member of our locality, and to sustain these precious relations as we move forward in our mission to expand the view of who makes art.
