Oleg Zhdan
Every act of creation begins with listening. Whether at the piano, writing poetry, or shaping wood by hand, Oleg is guided by rhythm, tone, and feeling. Having arrived in Oregon with music, memory, and a desire to create something lasting, the artist discovered a natural connection between carpentry and art. The tools of the trade became extensions of musical instruments, and the grain of wood became another kind of score. Each cut, line, and gesture is approached as part of a greater composition.
Working through touch and intuition, the artist creates small compositions in material and motion—reflections on movement, belonging, and the quiet beauty of making. Through texture, balance, and the interplay of light and form, each work invites viewers to discover the rhythm within the surface, the silence between gestures, and the enduring resonance of music translated into art.
